Helvic Dream is on course for a repeat Tattersalls Gold Cup bid, with trainer Noel Meade eyeing the Alleged Stakes as a prep race.

The son of Power gave Meade a first Group 1 success when winning last May's renewal of the Curragh's Tattersalls Gold Cup and while he hasn't run since, the trainer reports him in good form for a repeat bid.

Meade says “the plan is to run in the Alleged Stakes at the Curragh (on April 10) if the ground is ok. He won’t run unless the ground is the easy side of good.

“Hopefully all goes well there and he can have a go at the Tattersalls Gold Cup again.

“We had him ready to run in the English Champion Stakes last autumn but the ground was too quick.

“He’s in fabulous nick. We even toyed with jumping him. He’s the most brilliant jumper you have ever seen, he’s Harchibald-like but we can’t stop him when he is jumping — he just runs away!”
