Noel Meade is looking forward to Layfayette's crack at the $1M Group 2 Bahrain International Trophy on Friday 17th November, and has confirmed that Colin Keane will be on board.

The French Navy gelding has nine victories in the book including at Group 2 level in the Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh in May last year.

He earned his ticket to Bahrain by landing the Group 3 Royal Whip Stakes at Heaquarters in August.

“He’s going to Bahrain this week for a race over a mile and a quarter, so we’re looking forward to that," the trainer said.

“It looks a strong race, but we got an invitation so we said we might as well take it with a lot of prize money down to sixth place.

“He’s finished for the season here anyway, so he might as well go and run and have a break after that.

“He’s a great horse and we’ve had a great time with him. He’s not a Group 1 horse, but he’s won a load of prizemoney. He’s a horse everybody would love to have and they are hard horses to find.

“Colin is going out to ride him.”
