Meade has two chances in Cork Grand National Noel Meade has issued a warning around the participation of one of his two entries in Sunday’s Paddy Power Cork Grand National, but confirmed that the other will take his chance in the 3m 4f contest. The Meath handler's Idas Boy, who was last seen in action when pulling up in a Grade 2 novices’ event at Punchestown last November, has been installed as 13-2 second favourite behind 6-1 Royal Thief, while Everglow, who was fourth in a handicap chase at Fairyhouse on Irish Grand National day in April, is a 16-1 chance with the race sponsor. But despite being a much shorter price than his stable companion, Idas Boy is not a certain runner. Shortly after saddling Helvic Dream to success at the Curragh on Tuesday, Meade said: “Idas Boy is 100% well and is a good horse and could run in the Paddy Power Cork Grand National, but if the ground was very bad first time up for him, we might go to the North instead [he has an entry in the Grade 2 racingtv.com/freetrial Chase at Down Royal on Saturday]. “But Everglow will run and he stays well and will appreciate the trip. “Idas Boy’s last run at Punchestown was just one of those things — he overjumped and overstretched and Bryan Cooper thought he was wrong and pulled him up, but there was nothing wrong with him afterwards. “As I said Everglow stays well and has done good over the summer and he didn’t run too badly at Fairyhouse — he’s a horse that has a big race in him I think.” Paddy Power Cork Grand National Paddy Power: 6 Royal Thief, 13-2 Idas Boy, 7 Walk Away, 15-2 Call The Tune, 8 Defi Bleu, Diol Ker, Foxy Jacks, Glenquin Castle, Salmanino, 10 Flash De Touzaine, 12 Champagne Platinum, Mercury Lane, 14 Fairyhill Run, 16 Everglow, 20 History Of Fashion, Sir Bob, The Little Yank, 33 Cavalry Master Meanwhile the much-awaited weights were released today for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham on November 18 and Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase hero The Real Whacker, who is 12-1 with Paddy Power, has been allotted top weight of 12st, while 5-1 favourite Stage Star gets into this prestigious contest off 11st 7lb.
