Noel Meade is closely monitoring the weather in the upcoming days, as he contemplates the possibility of entering Layfayette in the Group 2 Huxley Stakes at Chester on Friday.

Layfayette, a six-year-old French Navy gelding, boasts an impressive track record having triumphed in races across maiden, handicap, Listed, Group 3, and Group 2 levels. Additionally, Layfayette has placed in both of its races this year.

Meade said “he might go to Chester but a lot will depend on the ground. There would have to be an ease in the ground.

“It looks a strong enough entry but he ran well at the Curragh the last day and he’s in good form.

“He’s an old stager now and he takes his races well.”
