Medicean heads Juddmonte field

Medicean heads a field of nine declared today for the Juddmonte International Stakes at York on Tuesday.

Sir Michael Stoute`s dual-Group One winner this season will be ridden by Kieren Fallon and is sure to be a leading fancy in the Stg#450,000 Group One contest, which is run over an extended 10 furlongs, following his success in the Coral Eurobet Eclipse Stakes last time out.

Frankie Dettori will bid for his third win, following victories on Halling and Singspiel, in the prestigious contest on Godolphin`s Sakhee.

'Sakhee was second to Sinndar in last year`s Derby but people had half-forgotten about him this season because he was out of action,' Dettori told the Mail On Sunday. 'He then gave me all the right signals when he won at Newbury.

'We know we can get more out of the horse and he is coming good now.'

Aidan O`Brien runs three.

They are St James`s Palace Stakes and Irish 2000 Guineas victor Black Minnaloushe, Eclipse third Bach and likely pacemaker Darwin.

Distant Music will be running over 10 furlongs for the second time having finished a good third to Kalanisi and Montjeu over the trip in last year`s Champion Stakes.

Grandera, an unlucky third in the French Derby and a close second in the Eclipse, will be trying to open his account for the season in the Knavesmire feature.

The fairer sex is represented by John Dunlop`s Time Away, a course and distance winner in the Musidora Stakes, and the David Elsworth-trained Lupe Stakes heroine Foodbroker Fancy, who drops back in trip after finishing 10th of 14 behind Imagine in the Vodafone Oaks.
