Memory impresses in Cherry Hinton Stakes

Memory showed an electrifying turn of foot to follow up her Royal Ascot victory with a stunning success in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket.

Winner of the Albany at the Royal meeting, Richard Hannon's filly was sent of the 5-4 favourite to go in again.

However, favourite backers would have been a bit worried at halfway as Richard Hughes had nowhere to go allowing Soraaya first run.

Hughes switched the filly to the outside of the field though and she quickened up like top-class filly to win a shade cosily by three-quarters of a length.

Hannon said: "She's obviously a very good filly to quicken up and get out of trouble like that.

"The Moyglare is the obvious next step and that will take us through to the end of the season.

"I do think she's a Guineas filly, she'll have no problems stepping up in trip."

Mick Channon said of runner-up Soraaya: "We thought she was a decent filly and she obviously is but we've bumped into another one again.

"I would think we'll go to the Lowther next."
