Ante-post favourite Midterm puts his Investec Derby credentials on the line in the Dante Stakes at York on Thursday.

The son of Galileo, out of the brilliant mare Midday, took his unbeaten record to two when making a successful seasonal debut in the bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown last month.

However, this Group Two contest will be a much stiffer test and the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt has not frightened away the opposition as 11 rivals are set to take him on.

They are headed by John Gosden's Foundation, whose reputation was slightly tarnished by his surprise defeat in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket four weeks ago. Gosden has also declared Wings Of Desire.

Aidan O'Brien has two interesting contenders in Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial winner Black Sea and Deauville, who was behind Foundation in the both the Royal Lodge Stakes and Racing Post Trophy last term.

Completing the dozen are Choreographer, Harrison, Kentuckyconnection, Muntazah, Sea Of Flames, Top Beak and Victory Bond.
