Midterm out of Derby Midterm has a stress fracture in his pelvis and will not run in the Investec Derby at Epsom. The Galileo colt, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, had been struggling with a hamstring injury after he could only finish fifth in the Dante at York, but scans taken on Friday revealed a more significant problem. Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, said in a statement: " This colt was scanned today and found to have a stress fracture in his pelvis. He will therefore not run in the Derby." Midterm had been available at around the 10-1 mark about winning the Classic on June 4 after he featured amongst 22 horses at the latest Derby forfeit stage. Aidan O'Brien has left eight in, including French 2000 Guineas winner The Gurkha and US Army Ranger while, as well as Midterm, Stoute has left in Across The Stars and Ulysses. Guineas runner-up Massaat, Dermot Weld's Harzand and Jim Bolger's Moonlight Magic are all still in the mix. Hugo Palmer decided to take away the temptation of running 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold, while Wings Of Desire, Cloth Of Stars, Humphrey Bogart and Linguistic could all still be supplemented for 75,000 pounds on May 30.
