Amateur rider Mikey O'Connor has lodged an appeal with the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board over the severity of the suspension he received at a referral committee hearing earlier this week.

The Cork jockey was given a two year suspension from riding after he was adjudged to have been in breach of Rule 272(i) in that he had acted in a manner prejudicial to the integrity, proper conduct or good reputation of horse racing on two occasions at Point-to-Points earlier this year.

No date has yet been set for the appeal.
