Minella Rocketts home under Sheridan Only a length and a half covered the first five home in Galway's the-year-old handicap over a mile and half-a-furlong and it was Minella Rockett(10/1) who got home in front under Joey Sheridan.  A winner over hurdles at Limerick on his previous outing, the New Bay gelding was drawn widest of the 11 starters after those drawn 12 and 13 were scratched and did well to win having had a wide trip throughout. Off the bridle three furlongs out and ridden in third entering the straight, the winner kept responding and headed Krasimir close home to win by a neck from Johnny Soda, with Krasimir relegated to third on the line. Sheridan was found to have breached the rules regarding the frequency of his use of the whip and, with it being his third such offence, was suspended for eight days. “He’s a tough little horse,” said winning trainer John Nallen. “He probably didn’t fully see out the mile-and-a-quarter in Navan,  but that was a serious race and everything has won out of it. “We were a bit worried about the ground, but this has been the plan since Navan. “We ran him over hurdles in the meantime, and he’ll be a Triumph Hurdle horse for someone hopefully! “He’s been on the market the whole time, but my value of him and other people’s value of him is different. “How could you value today, it’s brilliant. The Nallens have talked about coming to Galway for a lifetime. “We’re Mayo people originally as well, so to get a winner west of the Shannon is great.
