Joseph O'Brien's Moon Eclipse got up close home to make a winning start to her career in the mares' bumper at Leopardstown.

Paddy Cody 's mount had to switch outside Hello Jean inside the final quarter of a mile, but soon began to make relentless headway to chase down the leaders.

She arrived on the scene, down the outer, in the final 150 yards and collared a game Oldschool Outlaw (33/1) by half a length. Hello Jean also finished nicely for third at 8/1, a head off the runner-up.

Cody said: “She was too green early on to even ride a race. The further I was going, the more the penny was dropping and she finished out strong.

“She could be a nice filly going forward, she has a good attitude.

“Her full-sister won a bumper here, Lunar Display, and she was a Listed filly. Hopefully, she can follow in her footsteps.

“That’s my fifth winner overall, third on the track.”
