Moore hoping to see more from Sire Gary Moore hopes to see more from stable stalwart Sire De Grugy when he runs at Christmas if thoughts of retirement are to be quashed. The 2014 Queen Mother Champion Chase hero and dual Tingle Creek winner was bidding for a second successive victory in the Shawbrook Handicap Chase at Ascot on Saturday but burdened with top weight, he trailed home last of the eight starters. The 11-year-old is set to head for the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton in late December and should he disappoint once more, it could prove to be his swansong. Moore said: "He had too much weight and he is getting older. They are still giving him the sort of weight he was getting as a seven-year-old. "We will take a bit of time and think about it. We've had seven runners in the last two weeks and they've not run well. "Whether there is something lurking in the yard, I don't know, but we are not writing him off yet. "He will run next in the Desert Orchid at Kempton over Christmas. If he did get beat we will speak to the owners after that, but it (retirement) has got to be in the back of the mind."
