Morris happy Lieutenant's chasing debut Mouse Morris is in no rush to commit First Lieutenant to any major targets following his fine chasing debut at Tipperary yesterday. The six-year-old won the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at last season's Cheltenham Festival and Morris has always been of the view that the son of Presenting would be an even better horse over fences. Although not spectacular, he produced a solid round of jumping to beat previous winner Slieveardagh in the Like A Butterfly Novice Chase and his trainer is keen to get some more experience into his stable star before stepping up in grade. "There's not a bother on him and I was happy with him on the day," said Morris. "He got a bit close to the last but he was entitled to do that on his first run over fences and other than that he jumped very well. "It was a fair race. The runner-up might not be a champion but he's no slouch either and he has a good bit of experience. "I don't really have anything in mind for him yet. We'll probably just look for a winner's race somewhere, get some more experience into him and use it as a stepping stone. "I hope there's plenty to look forward to. He has the brain for jumping as he was clever and fiddled them when he needed to. "I'd much prefer they were like that than being silly."
