Mossey set for break after Cork Declan McNamara is hoping Mossey Joe can sign off on a winning note in the Dromahane Chase at Cork tomorrow. The Moscow Society gelding returned to fences in style at Killarney last week and turns out quickly again to gain more experience before his summer break. The former point-to-pointer made a few novicey errors on his return to the larger obstacles and McNamara feels he needs more practice over fences. “He's in reasonable form but I would have preferred the race in 10 or 14 days. There isn't anything else for him to run in though. We want to get the run into him for the jumping experience,” said McNamara. “He'll go on a break after tomorrow and will be roughed off on Saturday so he can have a couple of months summer grass. “We'll bring him back for October although I have nothing pencilled in for him at the moment. He'll stick to novice company where we can find races for him and we might look at the big novice race at Fairyhouse (Drinmore Chase). “I'm hoping there is a bit of give in the ground tomorrow and it's safe. The track should suit and I hope he runs well.” Gary Carson
