Mourayan on course for St Leger

John Oxx has enjoyed a stellar 2009 thanks to Sea The Stars, and could bid to cap his season with a Ladbrokes St Leger victory courtesy of Mourayan, who will be ridden by either Mick Kinane or Fran Berry.

Oxx said: "He came out this season and Fame And Glory was too good for him (in the Irish Derby).

"The intention is to run and it will take a fair bit to stop us running.

"We have left him in the Irish Leger, but if the ground is good then he will go to Doncaster.

"It is the obvious race for him and we have always thought of him as a Leger type.

"He lacks the gears for a Derby but hopefully his strengths will come out in the Leger."

Age Of Aquarius, runner-up in the Grand Prix de Paris, heads Aidan O'Brien's four possible runners.

The Lingfield Derby Trial winner will be joined by Ebor second Changingoftheguard, with Von Jawlensky likely to head to Curragh the same day and Rockhampton on standby for pacemaking duties.

O'Brien said: "Age Of Aquarius is in good form and he handles fast ground well.

"He has a high cruising speed and should get a mile and a half plus well.

"We have been looking forward to this race since Longchamp, and have always thought he is a horse who would suit the Leger.

"Changingoftheguard has been in really good form since running in the Ebor.

"He was a horse who we liked early on in the year, but he had a few disappointing runs.

"He ended up rated lower than we thought he would be and went on to win a handicap at Down Royal nicely.

"He then ran a stormer in the Ebor when he reared in the stalls and ended up further back than Johnny (Murtagh) would have wanted.

"He didn't have a terribly hard race and just got beaten.

"If the ground is nice then I hope he can run a really nice race."
