Murphy happy with Irish National hope Enjoy D'allen Mullingar based trainer Ciaran Murphy will have his first runner in next Monday’s Boylesports Grand National at Fairyhouse when he saddles the progressive novice Enjoy D'allen. Murphy was assistant to Dot Love when the mare Liberty Counsel sprang a 50/1 surprise in the Irish National back in 2013 and he believes that Enjoy D’allen has progressed nicely and ticks all the boxes for the race. “After the first time we ran him we had him earmarked. We just thought this lad has the profile for a race like this if he keeps progressing, and he did keep progressing,” said Murphy. “We’ve had a dream run with him. Up to his last prep run there it’s going to be three weeks from the day of the National which is absolutely perfect. “He’s a novice, he fits the profile, he has a nice weight — we just need to get him there now. “He does tick the boxes — I’m not saying he’s going to go and win the National but I have to say the last day in Naas if he didn’t fluff his lines — he just met the last a little bit wrong — I mean he was galloping at the line. “We know that he wants a little bit further than three miles probably. “All that end of it is going to suit him well. “We didn’t run him in the National Trial early on in the year. We made the decision that we didn’t want to bottom him out over three miles four. We’re happy now with the decisions we’ve made all along and hopefully it’ll reap rewards.”
