Murphy On The Sidelines

Timmy Murphy is taking time off to allow his left wrist to recover following a nasty fall at Haydock on Saturday.

Murphy was unseated when Classified stumbled after jumping the seventh flight in the betfredpoker.com Long Distance Handicap Hurdle.

The jump jockey called at Swindon Hospital on the way home to have the injury X-rayed.

'He had an X-ray last night and there's no broken bones. It's sore and swollen and he hopes to be back shortly,' said his agent Chris Broad yesterday.

'He's got it ice-packed to reduce the swelling. The main thing is there's no damage.

'He should be back race-riding in the next few days. It's difficult to say how long it will take. The swelling needs to go down for him to ride.'
