Murtagh booked for Repertory

Leading Irish jockey Johnny Murtagh has been booked to ride Repertory when the eight-year-old attempts to land a Stg£100,000 bonus in the Vodafone `Dash` Rated Stakes on the Derby card at Epsom tomorrow.

The pay-out, which is split between the yard, the owner and the trainer, is up for grabs if the winner of the five-furlong Listed contest lowers the track record.

Malcolm Saunders` trailblazer has recovered from finishing a close fifth in France last Sunday and will enjoy a favoured draw tomorrow when he races from stall 17 which is against the stand rail.

'Johnny Murtagh will ride,' Saunders said today. 'Obviously we could do with a bit of cut but it doesn`t look like we are going to get it.'

Repertory has already shown his liking for the Epsom. He was beaten a short-head by Bishops Court, who also runs tomorrow, in the race in 1998 and has won at the August Bank Holiday meeting two out of the last three years.

Lynda Ramsden`s Bishops Court is drawn 12.

Other interesting contenders are the David Nicholls-trained Proud Native, the mount of Michael Kinane, and the 1999 Wokingham Stakes winner Deep Space, who will wear a visor for the first time.

The current record stands at 53.60secs and was set by Indigenous in 1960.

The Vodafone Diomed Stakes has attracted a field of eight runners with Nicobar, winner of the Masai Mile at Sandown last time, the likely favourite for tomorrow`s Group Three contest.

Impressive York winner Soviet Flash looks the main danger.
