Bay Of Supremacy (11/2) defied top-weight when continuing trainer Johnny Murtagh and jockey Ben Coen’s good spell, landing Naas’ Aloga Equestrian Nursery for the Kildare & Kilmichael Racing Syndicates.

Despite carrying form-figures of ‘800’ into today’s race, the son of Supremacy was allotted top weight with a rating of 67, and in first-time blinkers, initially disputed the lead before eventually scoring by three-parts of a length from Final Melody .

Murtagh, who bagged three winners at the recent Irish Champions Festival, stated “the blinkers are a big help. He worked in them the other day and Ben said he gets through the ground really well.

“There is a five-furlong race next week in Down Royal and we’ll probably let him go again. We’ll keep him busy while the ground is soft.”
