Johnny Murtagh has confirmed that Shaool remains on target for the Alleged Stakes at the Curragh later this month.

A really progressive mare last season, the daughter of Belardo stepped out of handicap company to impressively win a Listed race at Leopardstown on her final start of the campaign.

Sent off 5/4f to make a winning reappearance at Naas last month, the five-year-old ran well below par, beating just two home.

Murtagh said: “She’s okay. I was a bit disappointed with her, the way she ran.

“She worked this morning and we think she’s in good form.

“She’s going to run in the Alleged Stakes in two weeks time. I’m going to stick with the plan.

“She didn’t operate the other day, for some reason.”
