Murtagh to appeal ban Johnny Murtagh has decided to appeal against the suspension he incurred when riding at Epsom on Friday. Murtagh was given a five-day ban (June 19-23) after being found guilty of careless riding aboard Frozen Fire in the Coronation Cup, meaning he would miss the final two days of Royal Ascot. The Ballydoyle stable jockey is not to contest the stewards' decision, merely the penalty. The appeal dates have yet to be arranged.
