Nagle pleased with Maarek's campaign David Nagle is hoping for another wet summer next year for his stable star Maarek who signed off a fantastic season with another good run in France yesterday. The consistent five-year-old, a winner at Ascot on Champions Day, finished second in a Group Three at Maisons-Laffitte, giving weight to all bar one of his rivals. Having begun his season on the first day of the Irish Flat season at the Curragh, he went on to run on 10 more occasions and the only time he finished out of the first three was in the Wokingham, where he finished sixth. "He ran a cracker but he was just drawn on the wrong side on the worst of the ground," said Nagle. "He (Seamie Heffernan) tried to get over as far as he could but he just couldn't quite get to the winner. "To think that he ran on the first day of the Flat season at the Curragh in mid-March and to still be in good form now is a credit to him. "He's on a well deserved break now and we can't complain about his season, he had his ground all summer. "Nobody else will agree with me but I hope we have another bad summer next year."
