Nail House (3/1) made a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden over six furlongs at Fairyhouse to seal doubles for Joseph O'Brien and Joey Sheridan.

He showed a good attitude to challenge front-runner Banks Of The Boyne racing to the final furlong. He came home the better to pass that game rival in the closing stages. There was half a length between the winner and the 100/1 runner-up at the line. Supreme Lord the 5/2 favourite was the same distance back in third.

O'Brien said: “He did well to win, I thought it was a messy race.

“He was a bit keen and it was a bit rough early for his debut. He looks like a nice horse and you’d like the start he made. I suppose he’ll probably be sticking to six (furlongs) for the moment.

“He was green and it was probably hard to get him organised. We probably ended up a place further forward than we expected to be.”

When asked if he could step into a stakes race now he added:- “Looking at him today, you might look to go somewhere between that if you could.

“There aren’t brilliant options, though, and you don’t always have that option.”

The trainer and Sheridan also teamed up with Pass The Buck (11/8f) in the opener.
