Nash searches for Listed success with Luisant

James Nash is considering further Listed prizes for Luisant after the gelding went so close at the Curragh on Sunday.

Luisant has been on the go since the time 38-year-old Nash first started sending out runners last December and after flopping over hurdles, he has been reborn as a sprinter.

The chestnut won two decent all-weather handicaps at Dundalk in the summer and was only beaten a neck by Rayeni in the Waterford Testimonial Stakes over the weekend.

Nash, a former long-serving assistant to Willie Mullins who is based on the Curragh, said: "He has come out of the race well and we might look at a Listed race at Dundalk next Friday week.

"It's over five furlongs and he has the form on the course. I'd say after that he'll have a break."

The race will be Luisant's shortest trip yet but Nash added: "We thought he didn't stay the seven in his previous run (the Boodles Diamond Trophy) and I was most surprised about how he handled the ground on Saturday. Given his form in Dundalk, you'd have thought he wanted it a bit faster.

"We've got 22 horses, which is good for my first season. Luisant has been my best on the Flat but we are mainly a jumping stable."
