Nathaniel takes Eclipse for Gosden & Buick John Gosden's Nathaniel (7/2) returned to action with victory in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown this afternoon. The Newmarket handler continues to enjoy a sparkling period this summer and the son of Galileo was his third victory on another profitable afternoon. The winner was always prominent and showed fantastic determination when challenged by Farhh in the closing stages. He really stuck his head out under William Buick and the pair crossed the line three-parts clear with the runner-up doing very little wrong in defeat. Twice Over was a further two and three parts of a length back in third under Tom Queally for Henry Cecil at 16/1. Buick said: "I have to say that was a fantastic training performance from John Gosden. To get the horse here in the shape he was in, all credit to John. "He's got real quality and he showed today what a good horse he is. I have always had a lot of faith in this horse. "He showed his versatility today and all being well he'll go for the King George again." Gosden, winning owner Lady Rothschild and Buick earlier won the Coral Challenge Handicap with Trade Commissioner while the trainer and owner also won the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock this afternoon with Great Heavens, who is a full sister to Nathaniel. The 3yo daughter of Galileo ran out an impressive five length winner of the Group 2 contest with Rob Havlin in the saddle.
