A presentation was made to Peter Killeen this afternoon to mark his final meeting as Navan Racecourse Manager and a career in the racing industry spanning over 40 years.

Peter was involved in the introduction of the Computote betting system adopted by the Tote in the late 1980’s and was appointed Manager of Tote Ireland Operations in 1999 until becoming general manager at Navan in June 2014.

He will remain as an independent director on the board of the Association of Irish Racecourses (AIR).

Killeen said, “I’m 41 years in the business. I had planned spending five years here in Navan and I’m running into my seventh. It has absolutely flown by.

“To think that it’s over 40 years since I walked into the old Racing Board offices in Dublin is incredible.

“I’ve met some fantastic people. The game is full of characters, I’ve had a great career and have no regrets. I look forward to becoming a regular racegoer, and hopefully that will happen for us all sooner rather than later.”

Killeen will be succeeded by Aidan McGarry, who currently holds the position of Owner Relations Manager in HRI. He previously held a number of managerial positions within HRI and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing.
