Navan return for Shantou Flyer A return to Navan is on the cards for Shantou Flyer after his fine run in defeat on Sunday. Colin Bowe's four-year-old produced a huge career-best to be beaten just over a length by Free Expression in the Grade Two Monksfield Novice Hurdle. That was the fourth time in a row he had finished runner-up, but Bowe was still delighted. The Navan Novice Hurdle, downgraded from a Grade One this year, on December 14 will be next. "He is improving all the time and he is only a four-year-old," said Bowe. "He had that bit of experience and he kept going all the way to the line. "We were hoping for a good run as we knew he was improving. "He will go back to Navan for the Grade Two Navan Novice Hurdle. "Three miles will be his ideal trip, but two and a half around places like Navan is fine."
