Nayef ready to return Nayef, the winter favourite for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas and the Vodafone Derby, has resumed work following a break from the racecourse and is expected to return to action towards the end of next month. Giving a bulletin on the progress of the half-brother to Nashwan, owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum`s racing manager, Angus Gold, said: 'Although we never actually came to a complete stop with him we`ve now started to ask him a few more questions and all being well he will be ready to run at the end of July or early-August. 'He could go for a race over a mile and build up from there, although I would have thought a mile and a quarter would be the obvious distance for him.' Gold added that trainer Marcus Tregoning is happy with the progress of his charge, who following the very wet winter in Lambourn was found not to have developed sufficiently physically to warrant a tilt at the Derby. He was third in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket in the srping and then finished a disappointing eighth behind Golan in the Guineas.
