Never Do Nothing could take Grade One test John McConnell could test Never Do Nothing in Grade One company in the Tattersalls Ireland Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday. Never Do Nothing joined owner Caroline Ahearn and trainer McConnell for 135,000 pounds out of the Andrew Balding yard in October. He made the perfect start for the County Meath-based trainer at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day, initiating a brace on that occasion for owner, trainer, and jockey Donie McInerney. “That’s the plan (the Grade One at the Dublin Racing Festival). If the ground comes up anyway decent we’ll go there, the owners are keen to run,” revealed McConnell. “It’s weather dependent, we’re in the lap of the Gods I’d suppose. We’ll see what happens. “If it’s yielding or yielding to soft there’s a good chance we’ll go. “He was bought as a juvenile hurdler and we were delighted to get him with the rating he had. “He was good at Musselburgh. He has to brush up a bit on his jumping but he’s schooled since and that’s happening. He seems to be improving. “We’re hopeful. It’s a big step up into a Grade One if we do go for it but he won’t be disgraced anyway. “He made most of the running (at Musselburgh) and to be honest he didn’t even hit top gear in the race. “He’s just a pure galloper and it takes him a long time to hit top gear and I don’t think he did. “We’re hopeful there’s a good bit of improvement left in him. The Grade One will test that theory.”
