New appointment at Ballinrobe Cathal Flannelly has been appointed as Track Manager at Ballinrobe Racecourse, where he will have responsibility for all elements of racetrack maintenance and management. Cathal, who studied Equine Science at University of Limerick, has worked at Ballinrobe Racecourse for ten years, with eight months spent on work placement with Horse Racing Ireland, assisting Tote Ireland, the marketing department and the racing department. He also has experience working with Cheltenham, Leopardstown and Fairyhouse racecourses during their major racing festivals over the last four years. Flannelly has worked closely with Ballinrobe Clerk of the Course, Lorcan Wyer, on developing a new track extension and upgrading the existing track to its present standard. Ballinrobe Chairman John Staunton welcomed the appoinment saying, "I would like to congratulate Cathal on his new role. He's already made a great contribution to the racecourse, developing our new track and improving the existing track over the past few years."
