A new diet helped Bill Lee secure a first success of 2026 today, as the top rider landed Dundalk’s Winter Series Leading Trainer & Jockey Championship Handicap on Iff In Doubt (7/2f), who neatly scored by a short head.

Lee, whose riding-weight hovers around 9st during busy mid-season and who also fractured his collarbone last summer, dipped to ‘do’ 8st 13lb in today’s ordinary February handicap, with his efforts proving vital in the fine-margin win over runner-up One Cool Bear .

Regarding the Cheeky Pups Syndicate’s winner, successful trainer Eddie Lynam revealed "Billy was available, which surprised me, as his agent rang to say he could do 8st 13lb, as he's on a new diet or something! He was strong on him there and it was a lovely ride.

“I just was worried he wasn't going to get there and even when they flashed by the line, you'd rather be on the near side here than the far side. A short head is as good as five lengths, though. He has been running well and I think there's another race here for him soon."
