New title, same sponsor for Royal & SunAlliance Chase Cheltenham Racecourse today announced that the most famous race in the calendar for staying novice chasers will have a different title at the Festival next March. Following a change of name for the sponsoring company, the race previously known as The Royal & SunAlliance Steeple Chase will now be known as The RSA Steeple Chase. RSA, in its current and previous guises, has been sponsoring the three mile and half a furlong contest since 1970. RSA's UK Marketing Director, Mark Wright, said, 'We changed to the RSA brand in April, 2008, and it was important that our sponsorship reflected that.' 'The move to RSA is a logical development for our business, it's shorter and more to the point but retains our heritage. The RSA Chase has a rich tradition, having been won over the years by some of the very best staying chasers, not least Denman in 2007. We are proud of our long association with such an important race.'
