Newbury gets go ahead This afternoon's meeting at Newbury passed a 7.30am course inspection and goes ahead as scheduled. Seventy-four millimetres of rainfall within the last 24 hours has led to heavy going at the Berkshire circuit. But conditions were nonetheless still deemed suitable for racing following an early-morning assessment. Newbury head of communications Andy Clifton said: "The track has handled the rain amazingly well. "There is no further significant rain forecast so we are good to go." Newbury also stages a meeting on Saturday, featuring the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes. Clifton added: "You can never say never, but I wouldn't have thought we will be having an inspection for tomorrow. "We should be OK."
