Newcastle inspect again tomorrow morning Officials at Newcastle are still hopeful of holding the showpiece Northumberland Plate fixture tomorrow but will inspect the track again at 8am. Thursday's meeting at the course was abandoned after just four races as torrential rain and lightning hit, while Friday's evening meeting also fell to the weather. Clerk of the course James Armstrong said: "Things have improved and I'm amazed how well the course took it actually. "It's blowing a gale up here at the moment and we've had a warm day but we have had a few sharp showers that set us back a bit, although not since this morning. "On the basis that it is improving we are going to carry things forward and have another look at 8am. "We've still got a way to go yet but we're giving it every chance."
