Newmarket softens ahead of Nell Gwyn The going for this afternoon's meeting at Newmarket is now Good to Soft following 4mm since declaration time. There is plenty of Irish interest in the featured Group 3 Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes with Aidan O'Brien saddling Curragh Park Stakes winner Coolmore and Joseph Murphy running Listed course winner Only Mine. The three-year-old contest has never been won by an Irish trained horse although O'Brien did go close in 2011 when his 9/4 favourite Sing Softly was beaten a neck by Barefoot Lady. Leading contender Illuminate has been withdrawn due to the change in the ground. The other turf meeting in Britain today is at Exeter where the going is now described as Good to Soft (Good in places).
