Ney made it two from two since joining Edward Buckley, as he claimed the four runner Tote Guarantee Available On Course & Tote.ie Rated Novice Chase.

Successful on the level and over flights, the versatile seven-year-old made his debut over the larger obstacles at Punchestown last month, springing a 33/1 surprise.

Proving that was no fluke, the Free Eagle bay raced mainly in a share of second under Kieren Buckley, son of the winning trainer.

Closing on the front-running Meyo approaching the straight, the 117-rated victor soon disputed the lead and travelled best, edging to the front on the run-in to prevail by a length.

Returned at 10/3, Meyo had to settle for second under Darragh O'Keeffe, while Jasmin De Cotte was 14-lengths away in third.

"I was a little bit nervous about the trip as before we got him he'd never ran over further than two miles but now he’s won over three-miles-one in heavy ground," the winning handler said.

"He could be a horse next year for one of those nice staying chases like an Irish National, lets dream.

"He's a grand horse to train, a lovely horse to have anything to do with, and we're very lucky to have him.

"It's incredible to think that he ran on the all-weather in England and he actually won on the Flat at Ripon on fast-ish ground.

"It's a good month ago since his last win and it's probably going to take another month to get him back bouncing like he was today.

"Depending on what the ground is like I'd love to run him in something at Punchestown. If we have a deluge at Punchestown we'll be there.

"He could run on the Flat as well as he's fairly well handicapped. Maybe one of those nice staying races around somewhere like Leopardstown, maybe an amateur race."
