Nice ground required for Devonshire Ground conditions will dictate whether high-class filly Devonshire makes an appearance at Royal Ascot next month. Willie McCreery's charge claimed her most high-profile victory to date when landing the Group Two Lanwades Stud Stakes at the Curragh last weekend to leave connections considering future plans. The logical target appears to be the Duke of Cambridge Stakes, but having disappointed in the Jersey Stakes at the Royal meeting last year, McCreery is unwilling to commit until nearer the time. He said: "We were delighted with her on the day and she's come out of it very well. "She's in the Duke of Cambridge at Royal Ascot, so we'll see what the ground is like and go from there. "She ran there last year and the ground was very fast and she didn't handle it at all. "If she's going to go this year, we'd want nice ground. Otherwise we'll just hold on to her."
