UK Champion jumps trainer Paul Nicholls is set to have his first Royal Ascot runner next week with American Trilogy on the final day of the meeting.

A 141-rated hurdler who won a Listed race on the Flat when trained in France, he is due to contest the Queen Alexandra Stakes on Saturday week.

Dan Skelton, assistant to the Ditcheat handler, told the Guardian: "I think the plan is for him to run in the Queen Alexandra on the Saturday.

"With Black Caviar running (in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes), it should be a good day. I'm not sure I'd be backing her at 1-3, though."
