No Royal Gold For Mubtaker

Connections of Mubtaker have decided against a tilt at the Gold Cup and could now aim the evergreen nine-year-old at the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The Marcus Tregoning-trained entire tackled two miles for the first time in the Henry II Stakes at Sandown on Monday but he faded in the final furlong to finish a well-beaten sixth of the seven runners.

And a return to a mile and a half at the Royal meeting is now on the cards.

'He came out of his race very well. We are very happy with him and I think it's a possibility he'll run in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot next. He won't go for the Gold Cup,' Tregoning said.
