Noah And The Ark sprang a surprise in the American Grand National at Far Hills this evening, with Seddon the best of the Irish in third.

Ridden by Ben Harvey, Seddon attempted to make all, with fellow Irish raider Salvador Ziggy tracking him in second.

The pair entered the straight in a share of the lead, but were soon tackled on the inner by the Todd McKenna-trained Noah And The Ark.

With Harrison Beswick in the plate, the chestnut victor got to the front shortly after the last and stretched clear when ridden on the run-in, with Merry Maker filling the runner-up spot.

The admirable Seddon plugged on gamely to take third, while Gordon Elliott's Salvador Ziggy faded in the closing stages and finished last of the eight.

Kennedy and Elliott certainly didn't go home empty handed, with the pair successful in three races on the undercard.

They claimed the Gladstone 3YO Hurdle with Kyogo, the Harry E Harris 4YO Hurdle with Calico and the Peapack Fillies & Mares Hurdle with Say Goodbye.
