Nolan Mulling Accordion Plans

Paul Nolan is tempted to keep French Accordion to two miles after his impressive victory in the Fortria Chase.

Immediately after Sunday's 14-length romp, Nolan suggested the Drinmore Novice Chase over two and a half miles as a likely target.

However, the trainer has reconsidered plans after reviewing the race and now believes some of the top two-mile races could be within his reach.

'He's come out of it 100%, we were absolutely delighted with him,' said Nolan.

'Even when I went down to him an hour after the race he was 100% and he's pulled out fine this morning ? he's been out having a roll.

'He couldn't have done it any easier and I was surprised with how easy he did it. I didn't think he had the pace to quicken away like that but I was wrong.

'He seems to have plenty of pace and he keeps proving us wrong. Every time he goes out he improves, so lets hope it continues.

'It opens up more options now. We were wondering what his best trip would be and whether we would step him up to three (miles) but on that, it looks like he'll have no trouble over two miles.

'We said yesterday the Drinmore was next for him but if the ground was to get a bit softer, we would consider the two-mile races as they might not be as competitive.

'In Ireland there are not that many good two milers around, there is only really Nickname and he only runs when it is very soft and we wouldn't be taking him on under those conditions.

'The only other is Foreman who has come to Charlie Swan.

'We are not getting carried away but we are delighted that he has done it so easy.'
