Borris, County Carlow jockey Micheál Nolan is set for a spell on the sidelines after a fall from Ardbruce in the Southwell opener yesterday.

There were immediate concerns for the Irishman after himself and Seamus Mullins' Scorpion gelding came to grief at the second fence.

Indeed there was a delay to some of the action afterwards as Nolan was removed to hospital, and winning jockey Jonjo O'Neill junior expressed concern for his weigh-room colleague in a post race interview.

Last night Nolan gave the following update through Twitter - "Thank you everyone for all the kind messages, so many it’s taking me awhile to reply to them all. I have fractured my T5 and T6 and broke a few Ribs. Having surgery Tomor so hopefully be on the road to recovery then."
