O'Brien bids for classic grand slam Last year's winner Yeats heads the 19 entries for the Irish Field St Leger as Aidan O'Brien bids to become the first trainer since 1935 to complete a clean-sweep of the Irish classics. The Ballydoyle trainer has six other entries including Septimus, Honolulu and Mikhail Fokine. Yelllowstone, formerly trained by O'Brien and now in the hands of Jane Chapple-Hyam, is one of three British trained entries for the contest along with Carte Diamond and Royal and Regal. Other notable Irish trained entries are Profound Beauty, Hasanka, Ezima and Red Moloney. This year's Darley Irish Oaks runner up Ice Queen will bid to go one better in the Irish National Stud Blandford Stakes. O'Brien's filly is one of 22 entries for the Group 2 contest over ten furlongs. The daughter of Danehill Dancer is likely to have her work cut out as she faces stiff opposition with the likes of Changing Skies, Gull Wing, Katiyra, Heaven Sent and the unbeaten pair of Cassique Lady and Classic Legend among the entries. Ancien Regime is a notable entry for the Group 3 St Jovite Renaissance Stakes for which there are 20 entries in total. Amongst them are the Ballydoyle representative US Ranger, last year's winner Benbaun, Kyniska and the Ger Lyons-trained pair Elletelle and Dohasa. The opening Flame of Tara Stakes promises to be a mouth watering contest. The Listed race over one mile has attracted some smart juveniles, which include the Jim Bolger trained Forest Storm, the Tommy Stack-trained Smart Coco, Tanoura trained by John Oxx and Dance Pass (Dermot Weld). The first of seven races commences at 2.05pm, and the ground is currently soft.
