Charles O'Brien is looking forward to saddling Pop Art in the 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown tomorrow.

The daughter of Excellent Art impressed on her sole start last year and now tackles Group 3 company on her return to action.

The form of her success at Naas has already been boosted this season with third-placed Moth running out an impressive winner at the Curragh while the runner-up Slope was narrowly defeated in France earlier this month.

“She's in good form and we're happy with her. She could maybe have done with another week but apart from that she's good,” said O'Brien.

“She still looks a bit wintery but the race is there and we might as well have a go. The seven furlongs should be within her compass."

Reflecting on the win last season O'Brien is pleased with the way the race has worked.

“Obviously Aidan's filly is pretty smart and the second is a good filly also.

“She was green early on in the race and it took a while for the penny to drop. She's still inexperienced as she's only had the one run and still has a bit to learn.

“Win, lose or draw tomorrow she'll be a nice filly for the year.”
