Donnacha O’Brien is relishing the opportunity to partner Saxon Warrior again in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on Saturday.

The Deep Impact colt provided the young rider with his first Classic success when landing the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May.

Ryan Moore subsequently took over in the saddle when he was beaten into fourth place in the Investec Derby at Epsom and again when he finished third in last Saturday’s Irish Derby at the Curragh.

With Moore heading to America this weekend to partner Breeders’ Cup Classic contender Mendelssohn, among others, Donnacha O’Brien will get back on board Saxon Warrior when he make a swift return to action at Sandown.

O’Brien junior is hopeful his big-race mount can reverse Epsom form with the first and third, Masar and Roaring Lion.

“I’m very excited to be riding him again. Hopefully he can show what we think he can do,” the jockey told At The Races.

“He has the beating of Roaring Lion and Masar on that (2000 Guineas) form.

“If he came back to something like that you’d think he’d have to have a chance.”
