Aidan O'Brien would relish a rematch between Magical and Ghaiyyath in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown this weekend.

The Godolphin star was very impressive when winning the Juddmonte International at York last month with Magical chasing him home.

It was a third straight Group 1 success for the son of Dubawi, who had also claimed the scalp of Enable in the Eclipse at Sandown the previous month.

O'Brien feels the presence of Ghaiyyath on Saturday would be a major boost for the race and is not afraid to take him on again with the six-time Group One winning mare.

“We're looking forward to the race and it would be great for everyone if he did come,” said O'Brien.

“Magical ran in York and Ryan was very happy with her, he thought that she might progress a bit from it.

“We'd be very happy. She's a hardy lady and gives it all. There is every chance she'd run a very big race.

“Always when we run a horse against another horse we get a look at our own and everyone elses and then we can regroup and see if we can improve things, or to do little things or tweaks.

“Obviously we would be delighted if he does come.”
