O'Brien leaves nine in Voltigeur Aidan O'Brien is responsible for no less than nine of the 13 possibles confirmed for the Betway Great Voltigeur Stakes at York on Wednesday. The Ballydoyle maestro can choose from Aloft, Bantry Bay, Bondi Beach, Fields Of Athenry, Giovanni Canaletto, John F Kennedy, Ol' Man River, Order Of St George and Outspoken. Storm The Stars, ante-post favourite for the Ladbrokes St Leger, heads the list. The William Haggas-trained colt has shown himself to be one of the best of his generation, having been placed in the English and Irish Derbies as well as the Grand Pix de Paris since he last got his head in front at Goodwood in May. Storm The Stars is described as a "probable" rather than "certain" runner for the Group Two on the Knavesmire, which is usually a reliable guide to the final Classic of the season at Doncaster next month. "He's a probable runner, not a certain runner at this stage. It's subject to how he works later in the week, the ground and everything," said Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum. "The St Leger is still his main objective and if he thinks the horse needs the run he'll go to York. "He's had a quite a lot of races and he's run very well, but it's about time he won one." Tashaar, trained by Richard Hannon, has been supplemented at a cost of £15,000. Successful on his debut over a mile at Haydock in May, Tashaar lifted a handicap at Glorious Godwood over a further three furlongs in the style of an exciting prospect. "We've always thought a lot about him. He was very impressive at Goodwood, and on his debut," said Harry Herbert, racing manager to owners Al Shaqab Racing. "He has thrived since Goodwood. W e're pitching him at the deep end, but we need to know were we are going with him and we think York will suit him." David Simcock's Balios, winner of the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, and the David Brown-trained Medrano complete the list.
