Joseph O'Brien is looking forward to seeing Banbridge back in action on better ground at the Dublin Racing Festival.

The Doyen gelding holds an entry in the Goffs Irish Arkle on Saturday week where he is set to drop back in trip to two-miles-one.

He had been impressive when winning over the minimum distance in the Arkle trial at Cheltenham in mid-November.

On his most recent start the seven-year-old was well held in third behind Mighty Potter in the Grade 1 Drinmore Chase, over two-and-a-half miles, at Fairyhouse on more testing ground.

“He won really well in Cheltenham, over two miles, earlier in the season and then in the Drinmore the ground got soft and it was tough going,” O'Brien told journalist Dave Keena.

“I think he's a better horse on spring ground, or nicer ground, so that's what we are hoping to get back on.

“We've been really lucky there (Dublin Racing Festival) over the last number of years and we've always managed to come out of it with a nice pot. Please God we'll be able to get on the scoreboard this year again.”
