O'Brien two pronged attack at Doncaster

Aidan O'Brien seeks his fourth Ladbrokes St Leger through Midas Touch and Joshua Tree on Saturday.

With Johnny Murtagh not at Doncaster, the trainer will use Colm O'Donoghue and Jamie Spencer for the respective runners.

Midas Touch was second in the Irish Derby and then took the same position behind Saturday's hot favourite Rewilding in the Great Voltigeur Stakes.

"He is a very consistent horse and ran a great race in the Irish Derby," said O'Brien.

"We think he's still on the upgrade. We gave him a break after the Irish Derby and used the Voltigeur as a trial for the Leger.

"He was giving Rewilding 3lb there, they went a good gallop and we were delighted."

Joshua Tree was third in the Voltigeur, his first start since winning the Royal Lodge Stakes as a two-year-old.

"We were very happy to get a run into him," explained O'Brien.

"He was held up in the spring and was just starting when he went to York. It took the edge off him and he came home very well."
