O'Brien wins inaugural Plusvital Leopardstown Trainers Championship Joseph O'Brien was crowned the inaugural winner of the Plusvital Leopardstown Trainers Championship, taking home €3,000 of Plusvital nutritional supplement or genetic testing products as a result of his win. The trainer recorded 12 winners throughout the eight summer series race meetings at the track. Dermot Weld, Jessica Harrington, Aidan O’Brien and Jim Bolger filled the remaining top five places, with a total of 29 individual trainers recording winners during the summer series. O'Brien said: “We are delighted to win the inaugural Plusvital Leopardstown Trainers Championship and winning an award such as a leading trainer is testimony to the hard work of all our staff and jockeys. This year has been a testing year for everyone with the Covid-19 pandemic continuing and we would like to thank Plusvital for their generous sponsorship especially in the current climate. “Thank you to our owners, staff, jockeys and supporters and we look forward to welcoming racing fans back at full capacity for the 2022 Leopardstown summer series.” Mike Shelly, CEO of Plusvital, said: “We were delighted to partner with Leopardstown Racecourse to support this new initiative for 2021. With almost 30 individual trainers recording wins over the series, it was certainly very well supported and demonstrated the depth of training talent here in Ireland. On behalf of Plusvital, I would like to congratulate all trainers and their teams who saddled winners over the series. We would especially like to congratulate Joseph and all the team in Owning Hill on winning the series and indeed on their wonderful success in The Saratoga Derby last weekend.” Tim Husbands, CEO of Leopardstown Racecourse, added: "The Plusvital Leopardstown Trainers Championship has been a great addition to our summer series race meetings. Congratulations to Joseph O'Brien on picking up the top prize and thanks to all the trainers for getting involved."
